Research Interests

Catalysis research

The overall goal of our catalysis research is to study chemisorption, mechanism of surface reactions and catalytic reactions on metal catalysts. The catalyst materials being investigated mainly focus on metal particles deposited on oxide supports prepared by atomic layer deposition method and metal in mesoporous materials. Toward this goal, we use the full complement of catalytic science techniques including temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), infrared spectroscopy (IRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray absorption experiments (XAS). The issues of concern are to understand the relationship between surface structure and catalytic activity/selectivity and reaction mechanisms.
